I’m letting you go
Yes, this relationship must come to an end
You and I have been thick as thieves for many years
Wherever I am, you’re right there with me
But no more after today
I’m cutting all ties with you
You see, I’ve finally realized that you don’t want the best for me
You’re a negative influence in my life
You’ve held me back for so long
You’ve kept me from reaching my highest potential
Whenever I want to try something new
I hear you in my head saying, “Girl, don’t do that!”
You question, “What if people laugh at you?”
“What if you fail?” you ask
When I think of my wildest dreams
You always urge me to be realistic
You want me be mediocre
To remain stuck where I’ve always been
I want to take risks and do things I’ve never done
But you promise me that it will be my biggest regret
After I listen to you, I’m too scared to try at all
You’re a dreamkiller, a naysayer, a false prophet of doom
All this time, I believed you were there to protect me
To keep me from making the wrong decisions
You’re not who I thought you were
You’re really a spirit that God has not given me
It’s time for me to let you go
This connection is in no way good for my soul

I’m better off without you
I have dealt with fear in the last year or so and I had to come to the point to get rid of it. It was holding me back from so many things that I needed to do. Thank you for this post.

Fear has never been our friend. We hold to him because we think he’s our rational side . Overcoming fear is hard to do but when it’s done it’s so much more freeing.
