Many people are aware of the benefits of using a face primer before applying makeup. A face primer is used to create a barrier between your skin and your foundation. It helps your foundation go on smooth and stay on longer.
There are hundreds of face primers on the market that have different effects. You can choose primers based on your desired look. Some primers give you a dewy finish, while others will give you a satin or matte finish. For those who want a face primer to help keep your foundation matte, Milk of Magnesia is a cheap alternative to high end, expensive primers. Because of my super oily skin, Milk of Magnesia has become a staple for me.
Milk of Magnesia is a laxative that is sold in drug stores, grocery stores, and other retailers. However, it has become widely used as a face primer.
When applied to the face, Milk of Magnesia absorbs oils and instantly gives a matte effect. I would only suggest Milk of Magnesia as a primer for people with oily to combination skin.
Milk of Magnesia comes in different flavors, but I would stick to the non-flavored version. Before applying Milk of Magnesia, moisturize your face as usual. Shake well before pouring a small amount of product in the bottle cap or a separate container. Apply a thin, even layer to your face using a cotton ball or flat foundation brush.
You can apply the product to your entire face, or just to the areas that are prone to oiliness, such as your T-Zone. Make sure to avoid placing the product to your eye area. Let it dry. It will dry white and chalky, but don’t worry. The white color will disappear once you apply your foundation or BB cream.
Milk of Magnesia retails for $3.98. Many people with oily skin, including myself, have reaped great benefits by using Milk of Magnesia as a face primer. Let me know if Milk of Magnesia has helped control your oiliness.
